I've recently started collecting vintage/antique cigarette cases but find that often the original elastics are missing or stretched out. It seems like a very basic elastic configuration. Anyone know if they are still manufactured or any advice on an alternative? Thanks!

I was looking at some beautiful antique cigarette cases-1920s.
It made me wonder if new cigarette cases are made, I haven't seen any. Has anyone?
Perhaps it etiquette that has contributed to this.
I never see people taking their cigs from a case anymore but always from an ugly piece of cardboard packet.
"Modern" things are mass produced and mass distributed so that no one ever feels left out if they cannot find it quickly and relatively inexpensive.
Gone are the days of true STYLE, CLASS, and ARTISTIC charm. Artists did not make enough money, designers used real fabrics and complicated patterns making them totally too expensive to make now.
PEOPLE have not really changed their attitudes, the MEDIA and the super RICH who runs the media has changed our attitudes for us.
Hand made one of a kind little beauties like the cigarette case you found are hard to find and just not "durable" enough to throw in a purse. You can find cigarette cases - made of plastic or some washable cheap fabric with a flimsy snap closure top in just about any drug store chain, but why would you want to.
