Antique Musical Cigarette Holder

unknown Japanese / oriental antique possible ashtray or match holder, its musical, please help identify?
rob zombie cigarette case money clip and belt buckle!

I have recently been given this strange musical oreintal display piece.

Im not quite sure what it is though! I think it could possible be a reproduction japanese match stick striker and holder / cigarette holder and ashtray.

Please take a look at the larger pictures and let me know what you think.

I have trawelled the internet with every possible keyword and still came up with nothing, how do you value something you cant find any info on?

The only other thing i can tell you is that its not magnetic, and i cant find any hallmarks anywhere.

Many thanks

That's a nice desk cigarette case/music box. It will be listed as 'tobacciana', stuff having to do with tobacco, or 'tobacco-bilia, same thing. Ebay generally has a few in the tobacco dept.

I used to collect smoking paraphanelia and have seen several of them in different forms. The lid may start the music or I've seen some where pushing 'Papa-san' will start the music.

It's a fairly generic item and very interesting to smokers.

As to value...well, .. it's worth what you can get for it.! (oh great, that's a big help!) lol.... if I saw it in a shop, I'd give $20 or $25 for it, but there is no way to tell what it may be worth to someone else.

EDIT: That Sankyo movement is the 18-note they've been making for years. They make music movements for just about every kind of music box. Google them up and you'll see bushels of music boxes with Sankyo movements.
