Cigar Box Lot

Answers

I found a strange looking postage stamp in a box lot of 'junque' i won at an auction- what is it?

While going through a box lot of stuff i won at an auction I found a cigar box of loose world stamps. Most of them are pretty common {King George V stamps from England, German 'Deutches Reich' stamps from 1930s- the end of WW2, Russian ones from the 50s and 60s, etc} BUT there was one in a small plexiglass case with a label reading '1859 VF MNH [very fine grade, mint- never hinged], 5gr Thurn and Taxis' Do I have a potential gold mine here moneywise?

It is possible that the stamp is worth a few hundred dollars, but there were reprints made of these stamps that are worth about $5 as well. You need to get such an item "expertized" if you hope to sell it for much. There are several such services available at varying costs. One of the best is the service of the American Philatelic Society (http://www.stamps.org/Services/ser_SubmitItem.htm ), but it is a little pricey for non-members. You could join APS or use the services of the Philatelic Foundation (http://www.philatelicfoundation.org/ ), the Germany Philatelic Society(http://www.bpp.de/ ), or some other recognized expertizing service.

Good luck!

How many cigars are you allowed to take from Cuba to the UK?

Hi,
I'm from the UK and want to buy lots of cigars while I'm in Cuba. Is there a limit to the amount of cigars/boxes you're allowed to take back?

I am from Canada, and I was just there and I was allowed to bring back 50 cigars. Check out the link below. It says you are allowed 50 cigars also. When you buy a case of cigars (25) they record your passport number. You are only allowed to full cases from Government dealers, so you can't buy from the locals at the resort. If you buy 23 or less they will not bother you at Cuban Customs, but if you have a full case and no Official Documentation with you might have problems. I also listed another link for some useful info (hopefully)

Where can I get 150+ cigars with my company's name on them?

I need personalized cigars for a company give away. I've seen Thompson Cigars, but I dont need a box. Just a lot of generic cigars, with a personalized company band (put on by the retailer). Does anyone have any ideas of where else I can look.

I'm not into it But these people may help...

Are cigars much more expensive in the UK than the States?

I'm studying abroad in Scotland next semester and was thinking of bringing a small box of cigars (about 10 in all). Is it worth it to include the box in my luggage, or should I buy cigars in the U.K.? I'm guessing the cigars are a lot more expensive over there, given the exchange rate.

Yes they are more expensive here in the UK, we have the highest tobacco tax in Europe...Packet 20 ciggarettes in UK about £5.00, about £1.60 in Spain....

Do you take responsibility for yourself?

It seems today that many people sue and get away with things so easily. Two stories which come to mind are a guy who hired a camper van in the uk, whilst driving along the highway, decided to put it on cruise control, and go and make himself a cup of tea. Of course the van crashed, he survived and sued the hire company for not explaining that cruise control did not mean the vehical would drive by itself.... he won the case!!! Another...a guy insured his expensive box of cigars for theft and fire damage. He smoked the lot of them and claimed insurance from from the broker, but in this case they got their own back by charging him with arson....what is the world coming to?

I often wonder about the same thing. We have become such a litigious society, where so many people seem to have their eye on the prize - ready to blame others for their own stupidity and poor judgement, and at the same time, make a quick buck for themselves. But take heart! There are just as many people who, like you and me, take responsibility for their own actions and believe the best way to get that dollar is to earn it. I'm raising my son with the same ethics. Hopefully one day the pendulum will swing back the other way and people won't be entitled to tie up our legal systems with such foolishness!!

I already have a book for him. It's really cool...it lists all kinds of different things a man should know how to do...everything from how to drive a stick shift to how to tie a tie. Then it gives step-by-step instructions. I love it.

He wanted a book that he can read to me out of, because I love it when he does that. so, I got him Delta of Venus by Anais Nin. For those of you who knows what it's about...it has got to be some of the most tasteful, almost beautiful (what ma I saying almost for?) erotica imaginable. I really love it. I'm sure there will be many nights spend by the fireplace reading.

Now, I was thinking about painting a cigar box I have lying around here. We write each other a lot of letters..so I thought this could be a special place to keep them. I'd line it with fabric...and maybe put a picture of us on the inside...

What do you think of these ideas?

wow
wooooow
it sounds graet...
he sure will enjoy this..
and you gave me a good idea..

Cigar Box Guitar Piezo Wiring Diagrams

Putting electronic components into a cigar box guitar, and getting everything properly wired and connected, can be a daunting task for the first-timer – but it doesn’t have to be. In this article we will present several basic wiring diagrams created by Ted Crocker of HandmadeMusicClubhouse.com , and discuss each of them in some detail to help you understand what is going on.

Don’t forget that you can get most of the parts shown in this article, including piezos , jacks, volume potentiometers and potentiometer knobs , right in our C. B. Gitty Crafter Supply Web Store!

The basic concepts presented here can be built upon and experimented with in your own building adventures, with great results. It is important to remember that adding electronics to your CBG doesn’t  have to be some kind of black magic. Granted, you can get extremely complicated with it, but the point is you don’t HAVE to. You can get good results and have a lot of fun with something as simple as a piezo, a length of wire and a jack.

We will present three different diagrams here: a simple piezo to jack setup; a piezo to jack with a volume pot added in; piezos wired in series and parallel to a jack; and a dual piezo setup that includes a 3-way switch for switching between the two piezos.

Guitar Jacks at C. B. Gitty Crafter SupplyOne more thing before we can get started – it can make things a LOT easier if you use a jack with a nice long threaded shank that will reach through the side of a cigar box. The Neutrik-brand jacks we sell in our web store are selected specifically because they have a nice 9.5mm shaft length perfect for getting through a cigar box side with a minimum of gouging and thinning. This can save you a lot of time, and time is money, so check it out!
