I currently own a 2007 Felt Fuse with all stock parts. I am starting to get into biking and want to know if there are some custom parts out there that will make my bike lighter. Especially the back end. It is really heavy. Can I take off my gyro? Is it worth it?
shadow makes axle nuts made out of aluminum, half the weight of a traditional steel nut, they also make hollow stem bolts. a lot of companies make stems that are machined like crazy which is always a good way to loose weight on the front end. if your rims are 48's, try 36's. yes take your gyro off if you dont need it and instead run a linear slic cable. take your pegs off if you dont use them. if you can afford it run a titanium spindle for your cranks. run a smaller driver instead of the 12 you are running, a good gear ratio is 25-9. youll have less chain, a smaller sprocket. buy a pivotal seat and seat post. folding tires are much lighter. run plastic pedals, they're just as grippy, cheaper, and much lighter. loose your chain tensioner, cut your axles down to the nuts. companies also make various titanium parts for your bike as well but are not really necessary, do all what i mentioned and youll get your bike down to 24 25 pounds. eventually when you progress youll want to grab a pro frame, forks and bars which are all much lighter because its all butted metal
Tons of Scotty Cranmer bangers in one Felt BMX video. Got to FeltBMX.com for more info.
have you tried the same model he rides? what's your impression of the bike?
His signiture model is the Felt Sheriff
I was wondering how I would change my gearing(other than changing the chainring to a 25t) to a 25/9 gear setup. What would I do to the rear hub to change it to a 9t driver? Also if you needed a link for info-http://www.feltbmx.com/08/product.asp?catid=1477,1481&pid=8622
Thanks a lot!
You would have to buy a whole new back rim that has a 9t rear hub and get a 25t sprocket. You would have to back them separate but Haro came out with a HARO 25/9 CONVERSION KIT(it comes in different colors too) it comes with the rim with a 9t driver and a 25t sprocket. You would also have to shorten the chain, the gearing ratio has to be the same or close to it.
What size cranks fit felt bmx bikes? I beleive the bike is a 06 or 07 model.
Thanks
i want to get a new bike 4 states but i dont no wat 2 choose
Redline has awesome quality parts that come stock on bikes. Felt does have very good frame though.
I would go felt if you are building it custom, and redline if just buying complete.
Does any one know where to buy the BMX - Felt: Pyre, Chronic, or Manic or know any other good BMX's to get and where to get them from in Sydney?
any bike store or probably cheaper on the internet
