Can you use any foam with needle felting or is it special?
QRandom 145

Can you use any type of foam for a base when needle felting or does it have to be a "special" type of foam. Our local craft stores don't carry any felting foam, but do have regular foam. I could order online, but would rather not pay shipping if I don't have to.

You can use any kind of foam. It's only there on the back to prevent you poking into your lap, or your mother's dining room table!

But you should be able to find a brush, bristles up, that will work even better. A good stiff brush is best -- the kind used for scrubbing floors. See if you have one, or can buy one.

Honest opinion of this needle felted rat needed please! Thanks! :)?

Hi, can you please give me your honest opinion of this needle felted rat. It is a Fancy Agouti Hooded Dumbo rat. Also, if you do like it, what is the highest amount you would pay for it as a collectible item. Thanks!!

Here is a link to view my rattie creation!

Hi, Thanks for all your compliments everyone! :) These take a lot of time to make, I'd say in all this took around 12 hours over time, trial and error. It also is OOAK. Time also depends on the critter being felted. They are for collecting. thanks

How wonderful! I am amazed you actually know the breed and it really looks like one. My brother raises rats, so I have seen some just like this one. It is so adorable.

I would pay under $30.00 because of size. More if larger. But I am a penny pincher big time. How much time is in one of those? That would also effect the rate I would be willing to pay. And if it is a OOAK design. Time involved and original design are worth more. But still under $50 even if it is a OOAK.

May you be blessed.

Where can I buy needle felting wool?
QRandom face 6

I am going to needle felt a killdeer for my project. I have enough white base wool and a needle, but I don't have any colors that can match the bird. My parents don't want me to go online shopping, so they asked me to find a store. Where can I by needle felting wool around Southern California, especially colored ones? Thank you.

I would check in at your local yarn stores..they should have that, or at least be able to special order it for you.

Needle Felting

It is another beautiful day here in Massachusetts. We spent the morning watching our friend's Creative Playtime Swingset be moved from their yard to ours. They have sold their house but have not found the right house for them and are moving to a condo for the time being. We offered to store their swingset in the meantime--otherwise they would have had to get rid of it. Then we stayed outside and played with the Mom (her son is in kindergarten so he was at school). Then we ran errands and went out to lunch. Now it Hazel's quiet time and then we will go back outside. Tomorrow the weather predicted is rain which will bring cooler temperatures so this is the end of our Indian Summer.

My angels = first attempt at peopleBesides doing some spray painting for a future craft and looking for nature treasures in our friends' yard, we haven't done much crafting. Too busy enjoying the sunshine and making sand apple pies etc. However last night I finished a few needle felted projects and I had a few angels I did earlier. I decided that for our advent calendar (my parents gave us a beautiful wooden one that has doors with compartments for gifts) this year I will give Hazel a needle felted nativity set so we can talk about the Christmas story with her figures. Last night I made the Virgin Mary. I figured she would go in the first compartment (I hoping it is one of the bigger compartments. I can't remember how small the smaller ones are.).

So I figured I would share these pictures and will keep adding to them as I get the various characters done. Hope you are having a beautiful day!
