What temperature does a standard bic lighter reach? Also, do you know what temperature a torch lighter reaches?
The temperature of any fire is based on the fuel it is burning. Since lighters vary, they might use propane, or a composite of fuels.

i have began to notice numbers below the place of manufacturing on the metal tip of bic lighters. first it was 301 then went to 302 from the U.S. only and now i just saw one from spain with the number 201. This is always on new lighters that i buy. any ideas on what gives?
It's probably a manufacturing code that identifies when and where it was made, that way when it blows up in your face they know who to go after.
Does it taste alright? Is there any difference between a bic lighter (or a dollar store lighter) and a zippo?

Ive heard that its because the plastic is more expensive but BIC is a premium lighter and im sure people would pay an extra 10 cents to make up the production cost.
I DONT BUY IT that no one has discussed or brought this up this cannot be some novel idea no one has ever thought of. There are oodles of other-brand clear lighters. Just imagine. A sexy, Translucently colored quality BIC lighter. Almost enough to get you to start smoking again.
The type of plastic used in Bic lighjters does not lend itself to being cast in transparent or translucent form. Note that the "no-brand" transparent lighters have bodies that visiby thicker than that used by Bic.
If Bic adopted that type of plastic, it would reduce the amount of butane available in what is already a premium-priced product. That would be enough to make the product uncompetitive.
I'm looking to buy the limited edition lighters available now in variety of stores. Problem is, none sold where I live. Need help finding a good website to get lighters cheap for my collection.
hahaha BIC.com sells "... instruments for characterizing either the dilute colloid regime or as concentrates." I don't think that guy buys anything at all from bic.com.

Actually, they come already filled with liquid butane gas.
They are not refillable, ergo, they are throw-aways.
