I love to collect tin toys, however I find the vintage toy often contains some rust. Can someone help me clean them up safely? Is there a specialty item I need to buy?
i do toy restorations and i use CLR" Calcium Lime and Rust removal. be aware when you do remove the rust do this very very slowly and dilute the CLR - you'll get a knack for it eventually. I also use a tin based bondo and matching paint to restore the toy to its previous pristine condition but again this process takes me at least a month per toy as i do this as a hobby.check out toy restoration sites on the web there are zillions!
Even more awesome old cars. Pics taken from BigM´s yard in Sacramento, California, ebay and miscellaneous websites.
Hi! My mom has this 6"x6" old vintage tin box that i adore but i dont like the design and we already use it for little nuts and bolts etc... Any way i was wondering if there is a store that i could get one at and how much are they? I cant buy things off of online sence im only 11 and my mom probably wouldnt get one for me! So does anyone know a good place in the Portland, Oregon area that i can get an old vintage tin box?
Thnx!
Hope you can help!
HOW MUCH ARE THEY USUALLY?
Try flea markets, antique stores, and maybe even thrift stores.
Another way would be to check yard/garage sales. You can also attend estate sales, and auctions, but since you're eleven not sure you can get aroound to all these places unless one of your parents takes you. Good luck. I don't know Portland, Oregon so I can't tell you any one specific place to go.
I have a Fossil watch tin from 1999. It is a long tin featuring a California-esque scene with a bus. Does anyone know where I can find out how much old Fossil watch tins are worth? I would assume only a couple of bucks, but it'd be great to know if there exists a website that lists the prices of their old tins. Thanks!
Try posting it up at ValueJockey.com. It is a great place to get ideas on value for just about anything. and it is Free. Pictures help a lot!

It is gold in color but I can see red and possibly blue where it has a few scratches. Please let me know if someone out there has any experience in completing something like this. Thank you
Take it into an art supply shop and ask if they can recommend a paint stripper for the purpose.
All of these are motorcycles with riders all tin, some windup, some frictions, mainly police motorcycles, great condition.
Thanks
Your best bet is to take them to an auction house that does specialist toy sales. The valuer will give you a conservative estimate of what they may fetch and this is generally on the low side and it's up to you if you wish to sell through them.
I want tasteful pinups they don't have to be military but that style. I have tried (allposters.com) and I didn't find anything like the ones I'm looking for.
If you're looking for vintage pictures, which, according to definition, are pictures from over 80 years ago, then I suggest either going to the wonderful internet and getting it blown up yourself, or try searching around at your town library and then get those blown up. It's easier and cheaper.
